My House, Cricut style

My house is built from the Christmas Manor files with my own modifications, and embellished to resemble components of our house in Springwater, Ontario. It may not look it, but it took me forever to get the brickwork and chimney just right. It’s lighted from within with fairy lights. The flower boxes and trees are removable, but the carpets are glued down, along with everything else.

The Christmas Manor

This is the Christmas Manor, an SVG file from Cricut Design Space. Made with 12″ x 12″ card stock, lit with fairy lights.
A card that deserves its own category

Shadowbox
This is my second try. The first is a gift, so I’ll post later. I found the SVG files on Etsy and couldn’t resist this one, because of the sweet black cat identical to my own sweet Shadow. What better than a Shadowbox for Shadow with Shadow actually in it! Here is the picture of design, its parts and the final product. 16 layers of cardstock (heavier weight textured) with lots of foam spacers. It’s in a 10 x 10 Shadowbox with fairy lights. I still need to do a bit of work to get the lighting right, but this gives you the idea. It took many hours to create this, though Cricut did all the hard work and did it well. The key things to keep in mind for a project like this include high quality paper and just the right mat. I used a new green mat.

This is a screen shot of the layers ungrouped and ready to cut. I will admit that after a few hours of this, my brain feels a little muddy.
Below is a Christmas scene which I swapped out for the season, using the same box.

3D Lanterns
I’m becoming just a little addicted to things that light up.

Card Fun with Cricut Maker 3

2025 has been a record year for snowfall, followed by an incredibly destructive ice storm. This pretty snowflake card kinda makes it more tolerable. It folds down flat then pops up if glorious 3D when the card is open. It’s a little tedious to make and needs premium paper for the fine cuts, but well worth it in the end.

A birthday card for my friend Pete who loves tools, coffee, carrot cake cupcakes (and Peg), for his birthday
331 is a top secret code number. It’s meaning can never be revealed publicly. Sorry.

For my brother who has always made cool things with wood, this birthday card. It’s a bit hard to to see, but it is a 3D representation of a saw blade, about 1/4″ deep, held together with 2 5″ rounds of acetate and filled with some actual sawdust from my hubby’s workshop. The SVG is in Criscut DS, designed by a clever community member. Just search for man glitter and you will find it.

I love the look of stained glass anywhere, so when I saw this idea, I had to make it for my sister in law for her birthday. It is simply layers of coloured cardstock, with the final layer being HTV in black. who ever though I’d want to use my iron to make a birthday card!

I am loving all things constructed from card stock. Especially since I discovered Glitter Art Glue (fyi, there is no glitter in it) The pop up cards are my favourite if I have the time to devote to it. This one, with its pop up fireplace and personalized stockings is pretty cute. I made a very special one for my hubby with replications of actual objects; I’ll see if I can find the photo.

Here it is! I photographed and did a print&cut of our rugs and his mantle clock (and a Leafs logo) to make Mark’s card special. He must like it, cause he’s saved it with our decorations for next year. 🙂
Here are a few cards using a variety of techniques… mostly a learning curve for me. Unless indicated, the designs are from Design space, or a complete invention with borrowed pics from the internet eg John Travolta 🙂

Oh the houses!

A gingerbread house and a lab, for a lover of purple, and her lab. DS design. About 8″ wide. the windows are lined on the inside with gold tissue paper and I cut a hole in the floor to be able to fit in a little timer-type tea light

School House for a friend who actually lives in a school house. And has a fox

Flowers, flowers and more flowers
First things first…. the flowers. My favourite Cricut thing so far. Just card stock (or crepe paper for the peonies) a bit of hot glue, some floral wire and tape. I am already looking at daffodils for spring, so stay tuned.

Coronation Fun

The most fun I have is when I get to use all my toys at once to create one thing. For my friend who was invited to a coronation party, I made some quilted bookmarks. Naturally, authentic paperwork was needed as well as Charle’s official monogram. I was easily able to access the Royal web site and download what I wanted. I do hope I won’t be sent to the tower. So all together, the WWW, Photoshop, MacAir pages, Canon printer, Cricut Maker 3, HTV and Glitter, Bernina sewing machine, BSR quilting tool, quilt batting, fabric, Olfa rotary blade and assorted rulers. And my glasses.
