My latest project

I always have at least a few projects on the go… but generally they are things for other people and my personal pleasures get pushed to the end of the line.

This is my newest one…. A pretty nice duffle if I do say so. And no, I didn’t make this one up, but followed a pattern instead.

It was so satisfying to finally to find the time for this bag, that is just for me and which will get lots of use. I bought the pattern last year as I wanted something better for use as a carry-on bag for plane travel. Now after all the travelling for 2015 is done, I finally got around to it

I bought the pattern at Craftsy from Studio Cherie at this link

The fabric is so gorgeous …From Connecting Threads, though I see they are sold out. I can search for the name if you like, just message me. I quilted it and bound each piece before assembling, basically following the pattern, though I made a monogrammed pocket for the front. No easy feat since my laptop has been annoyingly temperamental and required some major techy adjustments ( don’t ask, as I don’t really know what I’m doing, but it did work better in the end)

The side pocket is pleated…  The picture here is not the best, but trust me, it’s nice 🙂

But the best part… And the main reason for creating this,  is the sleeve on the back that will allow this bag to slide over the long handle on my big suitcase…. And stay there! Hooray! I’m gonna love it.

If you look carefully you’ll see the the sleeve. I’d show you, but my suitcase is has been off on a trip with my daughter and isn’t home yet. ✈️

There…a nice new post. Whew

Come back and see me sometime🤓

Down by the sea again: I can’t help myself… I love the mermaids! And they have some new friends.

I can’t wait to give these to some special friends… so please keep things quiet!! Check out the shiny seahores and fishes… more on that later. The Fish, you see, may become shark food down the road. Ouch for the fish.

The Bubbles Bag

OK, so a few days have passed and lots going on, including many “makings”, but the Bubbles Bag is next up and is pretty darn cute and very easy to sew. All the info is here at Unfortunately Oh’s blog

I had the most gorgeous piece of canvas purchased from the Fabric Depot called Larkspur Bright, manufactured by Alexander Henry. I had just a 1/2 yd which was lots to make this bag, though I chose contrasting handles. Because I like an over the shoulder bag, I increased the handles from 22″ to 32″ and like how this feels. I used fusible fleece to add some added structure and a heavier cotton lining with an inside pocket.

What do you think?
