Lowly Worm and his friends

Meet the Lowly Worm

Now, with any kind of good fortune, you will already know the Lowly Worm from your childhood or from belonging to another’s childhood, having read Richard Scarry’s books. The bestchildrens’ books ever. One of my favourite characters was, and is, the Lowly Worm. And now I finally have my own. with thanks to resources provided by Lynn Carson . I am now in love with him and am considering making him a wife. Stay tuned.

ps Although I am a very independent worm, I do need help tying my shoe.

And suddenly there was love. A sweet friend for Lowly. Her name is Lively.

Off to do our civic duty in the Canadian election April 28, 2025

A quick trip to the Alps, the origin of my Tyrolean hat, by the way,

It’s been a great week. but so very sleepy now. Off to bed.

The iPhone (or any other phone for that matter) Holder

What I can no longer live without and have perhaps 4 active holders around my house. They easily hold iPads in landscape as well.

The little tab at the top will hold your charge cable in place.

Cord Keepers

If your life is like mine, keeping track of the too many cables and cords in my life ihas become chaotic. Here is method #1 : little circles of fused fabric in fun colours, with velcro closures.

Below is my preferred method, #2: I sewed some glasses cases from felt and added the names of the cords enclosed. I also label my cables with a sticker. they no stack neatly in my drawer and each one is different, so easy to find. Oh happy day

And just one more thing for today…

As I always say, you can never have too many lobsters. And bears. You need lots of those.

Banana Garden?

How does our garden grow?… not very well as it turned out last summer. But much better now.

We had little luck last summer with our veggie garden, though the rabbits would argue this point since they remained well nourished throughout the growing season.  We are happy for them.
So for this reason, I decided to do some gardening of a different nature. The kind that would last all year long too… and I did it! Though this garden serves to nourish only the imagination. Just as important as fresh vegetables to eat, I am quite certain.
So as with all gardens, one must start with fertile soil. This one is all ready for seeding into nice neat rows. Then it is watered generously.

We harvested onions, beets, strawberries, carrots and peas all at the the same time! It was a miraculous harvest.

And at Thanksgiving, we feasted!

I am gifting the garden to sweet Ava, my great niece… I hope she has many years for happy gardening with it. And I finally did yesterday… and I think she likes it.

Down by the sea again: I can’t help myself… I love the mermaids! And they have some new friends.

I can’t wait to give these to some special friends… so please keep things quiet!! Check out the shiny seahores and fishes… more on that later. The Fish, you see, may become shark food down the road. Ouch for the fish.

Down by the sea

I must have a “thing” for the sea lately, as I have been leaning towards creatures of the sea and have had so much fun with patterns from Abby Glassenburg and others.

First the mermaids and the little fishes with patterns from at whileshenaps.com

Here are some pics, but shhhh, don’t tell anyone, as they are mostly Christmas gifts for young and not so young friends!

And today I discovered the perfect friend to accompany these, a little seahorse from Lia’s Crafty Journey’s blog.

I used some minky I had left over from a baby blanket and created this little guy. I used safety eyes instead of felt. There will be many more of these to come.

Thanks Lia!

Then along came a sweet friend: I made him out of a listening grey stretchy bit I had in my stash left over from who-knows-what and guess what?  I love him!  He looks like he has just jumped right out of the surf.

Then I wondered what would happened if I introduced them to one another. So far so good. They are observant, anyway.
